Levi and I have had this battle ever since we got married.......to eat together @ the table. Levi always wants to take his plate of dinner and go downstairs and eat watching a movie. Now I've got nothing against eating and watching a movie per se......but I'm really trying to create the habit of eating dinner together at the table as a family.....even though it is just the two of us. Yesterday I put my foot down and even though I ate before Levi got home......I MADE him sit @ the table and eat his dinner. He did, however, turn on his laptop and watch some Cop show but @ least he was at the table.
Hence, to help prove my point.....I have found several benefits of eating @ the table. (Most of these are more for parents w/kids but we can all benefit and at least we can create good habits for the future)

2. Generally preform better @ work/school
3. Automatic "check-in" time
4. Develop/refine/maintain good language/communication skills
5. Spend quality time together
6. Model Manners
7. Well-Being and bonding
8. Self-sufficent (learn to plan and prepare meals)
9. Save Money!!!
10. Create better relationships
