Oh, Mother Nature

Well Sunday, honestly, was just like any other Sunday. Wake up...go to church....go home. Not a whole lot more to think about.
Therefore, Sunday came and Levi and I woke up, went to church, then came home. My parent's were having a family BBQ that afternoon so we hung out at home for about an hour or so after church and then headed up to Morgan.
We are up at my parents house, having a good old time, and I get this text from my good little neighbor Kelsey, and she is like..."dude, what happened to your tree?".
Huh?....what is she talking about? Well I remember that for the last few days it had been pretty rainy and windy and there were a few small leaves and branches on my front lawn. Yet, I didn't think anything of it.
I text her back, and she's says, "Your tree is on your house!". What!?.... Tree on my house....what in the world. Of course I tell Levi and we are both thinking maybe some huge branch broke off or something and is sitting on top of our house.
We don't think it is that big of a deal and decide we will just check it out when we get home.
Kelsey must have figured out that we didn't understand the magnitude of what "tree on your house" means....so she text me again and convinced us we better come check it out.
Well we got home and holy moly....our tree was definitely not where we left it!!
I honestly have no idea when this happened....you think I would hear my huge tree come crashing onto my house!

The tree had completely uprooted itself and fell against the house. (there is big hole in my back yard where it pulled itself out). The first think I thought was that it looked like something out of those aftermath tornado pictures you see.

Anyways, Levi looked at it was like we are going to have to call some tree service asap and get them out her to clean this up and hope to heck this didn't damage our roof!

Monday after work, I started calling around and seeing what I needed to do. Well...there was some good news and some bad news. The good news is ...that for all places for our tree to fall this was probably the best place. It didn't hit any power lines or crash into someone else's yard. It hit just right that no windows broke, no interruption to any power in our house, missed our air conditioner by inches, and as far as we can see the only damage to the roof is some scratched up shingles. Bad news....had a few estimates done and such....had the power guy out to look at it (the branches got tangled in the power lines)....to have someone come clean this all up is very very expensive!! I'm not talking just a few hundred dollars.

Thank you thank you family!!

Clay, (my sister's husband) came and looked at it last night. Got up on the roof and started checking it out. Clay said our roof looks fine and the tree is really only being help up by 4 branches about 4-6" inches in diameter. He said once you cut those 4 branches the tree will come down. Now to hire someone to come and just cut the 4 branches and absolutely nothing else ...would be a minimum of $400...up to $600 or so and that would leave me with a huge mess to clean up. Clay just said "Well heck...I'll get my saw and I'll chop it down."

So I'm still gonna have a big mess for a while...but at least the tree will be off my roof and I will have saved some serious money!!

P.S.....if anyone knows someone who wants some firewood....looks like I have plenty to spare! I have no need for it...
